Each year, Ohio Soccer Moms and Dads compiles an annual Tryout Guide to help families navigate club tryouts and find the best fit for their players. In Ohio, most club teams form in the main tryout period held from April to June, with families committing to a year of programming from August to July. However, an exception exists in Northeastern Ohio, where U15–U19 tryouts often take place after the high school season.
This fall, we’re seeing something new: an influx of players and clubs looking to fill spring spots and hold supplemental tryouts now. Many recreational players are exploring club soccer after their fall season, while some high school players are seeking more competitive opportunities. Clubs are also actively looking for additional players to round out their rosters for spring, creating an unusual number of midseason openings.
To support players who don’t yet have a team, we’ve created this list of supplemental tryout opportunities across Ohio. These tryouts offer a chance for players who missed the regular season to join a club. If you’ve committed to a team, however, we encourage you to honor that commitment, as most leagues don’t allow midseason transfers within the same league. If you are considering leaving your current club mid season we want to encourage you to talk to your coach or director to try and resolve them.
