MSYSA & Soccer Parenting Announce Partnership 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Michigan State Youth Soccer Association and Michigan State Premier Soccer Program Partner with Soccer Parenting to Elevate the Youth Soccer Experience

PLYMOUTH, MI — May 6th, 2025 — The Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and the Michigan State Premier Soccer Program (MSPSP) are proud to announce a new partnership with Soccer Parenting and The Sideline Project—a nationally recognized organization and initiative working to transform the culture of youth soccer through parent and coach education, community engagement, and sideline behavior improvement.

This collaboration reflects MSYSA’s commitment to supporting the holistic development of players by improving the soccer environment through education and empowerment. By actively promoting Soccer Parenting and The Sideline Project to clubs and families throughout the state, MSYSA is taking meaningful steps to create a more positive, supportive youth soccer experience.

“MSYSA is proud to partner with Soccer Parenting, a trusted resource dedicated to creating a positive and supportive environment for players, parents, and coaches,” said MSYSA Executive Director Tom Faro. “Together, we can make a lasting impact on our soccer community. We are excited for our members to explore the resources and experience Soccer Parenting has to offer.”

Through this partnership, all MSYSA and MSPSP parents and coaches will receive trial access to the SoccerParentResourceCenter.com, an educational platform offering expert-led courses for both parents and coaches, live member-only events, engaging community forums, and a library of videos and articles designed to foster strong communication, trust, and player-centered development. They will also gain access to Successful Soccer Parenting, a 30-minute course that equips soccer parents with the information and education they need to ensure their child is inspired by their soccer experience.

Additionally, this partnership includes access to The Sideline Project, a Soccer Parenting initiative that addresses one of the most persistent challenges in youth sports—sideline behavior. Clubs, parents, and coaches will be encouraged to take the pledge which promotes positivity, respect, and perspective on the sidelines.

MSYSA and MSPSP will also have access to the Return to Good Standing Course, a constructive and reflective resource designed to help spectators and coaches who have exhibited problematic behavior return to the field with improved awareness and accountability.

“When parents and coaches are equipped with the right tools and insights, it strengthens the entire soccer experience for players,” said Skye Eddy, Founder of Soccer Parenting and The Sideline Project. “We’re excited to partner with MSYSA and MSPSP—organizations that already demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting their soccer community. This partnership builds on that foundation, further promoting trust, positivity, and player-centered development across Michigan.”

TThis partnership is part of a growing national movement in youth sports to move beyond results-driven mindsets and toward developmentally appropriate, character-building experiences for players of all levels.
